8. 26-377 Reconsideration of Action on an Agreement with Peregrine Technologies, Inc. for a Data Integration Platform and Professional Services for a Not-to-Exceed Amount of $2,802,002 Over a Ten-Year Term and to Approve the Related Budget Amendment
I am a 20+ year resident of Santa Clara, and I am opposed to any agreement with Peregrine Tech. It failed on Mar 10, and that was the right decision for Santa Clara. We need technology with strong data protection, assurances that our data won't be used by ICE or anyone else to kidnap our neighbors off the streets. We are a Sanctuary City and we should act like it. Oversurveillance doesn't make anyone safer.
I am a member of SURJ Santa Clara County & a frequent visitor to Santa Clara. I have been fighting Flock and Peregrine is worse.
On March 10, this item failed without the necessary 5 affirmative votes. To resurrect a failed agenda item without a legitimate reason is a grave violation of our residents’ trust in our local government, an abuse of the Mayor’s agenda-setting powers, and a mockery to our democracy. The vote died, and we must let it lie to protect our government and privacy rights.
