While I recognize Franklin Square as a great community asset, I'm uncomfortable with the heavy subsidy from City General Funds to maintain parking lots, sidewalks, landscaping and fountains. It seems that the assessment on property owners is only ONE FIFTEENTH of what the City pays to maintain Franklin Square. I don't think that the City pays anything to maintain parking lots, sidewalks and fountains at Mervyns Plaza. Given the impending budget deficits, I don't like the $152 K subsidy.
