Slide #5 in the Schematic Design, for Play Zones, adds usage of Synthetic Turf for Existing Terrace seating. Synthetic Turf adds to plastic pollution in our Bay and ocean. There are natural turf alternatives developed for the West and for California. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide and oxygen out. Also Synthetic Turf does require maintenance. Dirt accumulates and weeds grow in Synthetics. DIvots form. Microplastic bits flow to the Bay. Bird poop lingers. Turf heats the air more than grass.
