    We badly need affordable transit-adjacent housing. But this contract, by the developer's own past description, doesn't use the space to benefit the broader community. Let the contract stay expired, as it's supposed to, and have the station area development discussion out in the open and focused on those who will actually make good use of it.

    We need affordable housing close to and at transit center in our great city of Santa Clara. Lets work on it and bring more affordable housing in where it makes the most sense close to transit centers like our train stations.

    Dear Mayor and Council;

    We shouldn't even be discussing 10. A. 21-851 in this evening's meeting. The petition references a third amendment to an ENA with Republic Metropolitan for an agreement which expired in August 2020. The horse is dead. We should no longer be discussing this...

    The City of Santa Clara should be using this City land for more comprehensive projects that work with the surrounding area and benefits ALL the citizens of the city.

    The project does not fit the area having little to no historic-district planning. The project is too tall to fit into the area by the Historic Santa Clara Depot, Police Station and hotel. Republic is NOT a quality partner for the City of Santa Clara because of their poor attitude with the public. Design not realistic. The parking to support commuters using Caltrain is being cut more than half. A half of a parking space for each bed will never work. Where are all the extra cars going to park?

    I support the staff recommendation that an amendment to the ENA should not be agendized for a future council meeting. This contract is over and the council should let it remain expired. The City of Santa Clara should not be in the business of using City land to build luxury dorms for Santa Clara University.

    this item should not be on the agenda again as it does not follow standard criteria for development. the previous decision not to proceed with this project should stand as there are too many unresolved issues with the plan.

    Item 10. A. 21-851 on today’s (6/22) agenda: The petition has an amendment to an ENA for an agreement that's expired—which should stay expired. As a city with a history of dubious real estate ventures, we can be more thoughtful and do better than our past. Would love our council to consider wider options for this city land—especially with the foresight of the future BART station; something more inclusive that a high-rent dorm. I support that an amendment to the ENA not be agendized. Thank you.

    Mayor and City Council,

    We need more housing. The proposed construction of housing at the Santa Clara train station is is one of the most appropriate locations for additional housing in our community. It is good design to add housing adjacent to this transit hub.

    This project makes sense, and also increases the supply of affordable housing.

    Please speed approval of this project. I strongly support this request.

    Robert C. Fitch, long time Santa Clara resident.

    Please no to Item 10. A. 21-851 on the June 22nd, 2021 agenda. The petition references a third amendment to an ENA with Republic Metropolitan for an agreement which expired in August 2020. The amendment to the ENA should NOT be placed on the agenda for a future council meeting. This contract is over, and the council should let it remain expired. The City of Santa Clara should not be in the business of using City land to build dorms for Santa Clara University. Thank you for your consideration,

    Vision Zero's goal to reduce traffic related deaths and accidents is laudable though, sadly, strategies advocated are lopsided. The best strategy for reducing bicycle and car collisions is the same as that which has reduced pedestrian and car collisions. In other words create separated bike lanes that are the equivalents of sidewalks for pedestrians. Cars are not about to disappear and the city should acknowledge this. Do not create air pollution by causing cars to crawl.
