We OPPOSE this proposal.
The homeless people who don't find permanent housing and who are at the end of their “interim” stay are going to be forced out of the shelter. They are going to congregate near the shelter site, thereby impacting the immediate neighborhood. It will only get worse as days goes by! This is not solving the homeless problem. It is just dumping the homeless, and issues that come with being homeless in our neighborhood. What is the County's plan to mitigate this problem?
Please ask the people who support this proposal HOW CLOSE they live to this location. If they live very close and still support the project, then hats off to them. If, like me, they live a mile or more away, then take their comments with a grain of salt. It's very easy to claim the moral high ground when one is only minimally affected themselves; it's much harder when one has to actually deal with the consequences.
We OPPOSE the low-barrier interim housing proposed at Benton & Lawrence.
The City needs to do more community outreach before voting. The surrounding community needs to get notified correctly about this hearing. City Council Meeting Notice of Public Hearing put out confusing information.
Benton at Lawrence actual address is 3590 Benton Street, Not 2350 Benton as printed on the Notice.
Residents near Benton and Lawrence might not pay attention because they will think it's about 2350 Benton.

I strongly oppose any shelter at Benton. This is absolutely the WRONG location for homeless shelter of any kind.
