I find it interesting that the ones who brought this litigation to the city were those who were appointed by Mayor Gillmor and Kathy Watanabe for the charter review. It seems that these two love nothing more than to cost the city more and more money that the city doesn't have and work hours that city staff cannot accommodate This is nothing more than a frivolous attempt to usurp the language in order to protect their close ally - the chief of police.

This has unfortunately become a rather contentious issue, like so many surrounding the Stadium. The push to change how the Chief of Police and City Manager are chosen, in my observation, has been in part pushed by political groups supported by 49er interests. It is just the right thing to do to have this Proposed Charter Amendment written as clearly and concisely as possible. I support amending the Proposed Charter Amendment to make it very clear as directed in the letter.
