For decades the YAC has been an incredible place for kids to mature socially and as individuals. I am an adult now and I will always cherish the memories, lessons, and opportunities the YAC has given me and others like me who were able to have this “second home” since elementary school. I believe that if approved Santa Clara recreation programs can continue to benefit the youth and therefore the future of our community.

To some the YAC & Teen Center are just facilities, to others like myself these walls have become a home. As a lifelong Santa Clara resident I grew up in these programs at the YAC and eventually my first job. As a recreation leader I was able to obtain lifelong skills, friendships, and experiences that should be experienced by the Youth of this city. I support to keep Santa Clara's YAC programs to continue for our youth, families, and our future! Please continue the programs for our city!

The YAC is an unparalleled, essential community support and enrichment venue without which many parents would not have childcare or access to affordable youth enrichment programs. Summer camps, break camps, holiday events, after school care they do it all with such JOY. If you truly support your community, you will support, fund, do whatever it takes to keep the YAC running full tilt.

You will never build or find another program as beneficial and successful as the YAC. The life lessons and experiences learned from such an amazing program stay with kids through adulthood. Getting rid of such an amazing program only hurts the City of Santa Clara. There is no significant benefit that outweighs the consequences. The YAC defines the City of Santa Clara. Who wants to get rid of such a beneficial program for families and kids that call the City of Santa Clara their home?

The YAC provides vital services to the community because it is a safe place for children to stay at after a school , where they can do their homework and play. These are very hard times for families , with both parents needing to work and after school program costs skyrocketing . The YAC is an affordable
safe place for our kids . Please keep this program as families rely on the YAC very much !

The YAC is such an important part of the community. The after school program helps so many families. hard working families that can't afford traditional Healthcare. Our YMCA program at Bowers had limited space, and we didn't find out til the first day of school. Without YAC many parents would have been in a bind. My son has used it all year, no issues. He loves the staff, wants to go to all of the events and made new friends. Please don't make any changes.

The YAC provides programming to youths throughout Santa Clara. The after school program has been servicing youth and teens of Santa Clara for over 30 years and low income families can utilize the free program to safely monitor their kids allowing parents to work. The memories that the participants at the YAC leave a long standing impact as many part-time staff were previous participants. I hope the city can continue to provide programming to the youth in Santa Clara through the Teen Center.

My child attends Scott Lane Elementary and the after school program at the YAC. Scott Lane does not offer enough spaces for after school care so it is amazing that my child can attend the YAC. My family relies on the facility and all it offers on a daily basis. The YAC is affordable, reliable and provides a safe place for children after school. My son loves going to the YAC & spending time with the staff. Taking away this programs space would be detrimental to working families in the area.

I have made the mistake of choosing to oppose this in my last comment. I am writing to clarify that I support this. I am unable to edit my last comment. Again, I support this.

I can’t say enough great things about the YAC and the staff! They are incredible! My children attend and are able to complete their homework and then socialize/play in a safe environment. The children need this space. They are our future!

The YAC is a staple in the community. I attended the YAC when I was a SCUSD student and now my son attends the YAC. He looks forward to going to the YAC everyday. He loves the staff and is constantly raving about them and the activities. He gets mad when I pick him up to early. This program is essential for working parents. It’s cost effective and provides a safe and fun environment for student after school who have no where to go. Do not take their facilities away

The YAC has been an incredible resource my kids have benefited from greatly. From the programs, events, summer camps and especially the leadership and staff have been made the city of Santa Clara shine. They have an outstanding organization. I was born, raised and still live here in Santa Clara and my kids have been going to the YAC. I can say that the importance of the YAC is critical to thr people of Santa. Think of the Latch Key kids or the working parents who need the YAC for their services

The YAC is a special place. If you have participated in a YAC program, attended an event, or simply gone on a facility tour, this fact is self-evident. The YAC and its staff have positively impacted the lives of thousands. I can attest to this, growing up as a YAC participant and later having the opportunity to be a Recreation Leader. I am hopeful this new agreement will allow the YAC to continue to serve Santa Clara's youth and the community for the next decade and subsequent decades to come.

If you have never been apart of the YAC, then you will never know the true impact this program has on it's participants, workers, and parents. Especially when those workers and parents were once participants. The YAC provides a safe space for kids to have the opportunity to do things they might not have the chance to. The YAC also provides a space where kids can express themselves and continue to grow into themselves. The kids need the space. Moving to the TC will cause many conflicts and issues
