I highly support that we should create a space for community members to congregate safely. There are more and more child born in this community. A safety place to play is critical for child development. And a park help build healthy and stable community. If we could build a park at 1601 civic center, it means a lot to this community.

Yes. We will have a new born soon. And it would be important to have a some open space for the kid.

I strongly support this proposal, the nearby neighborhoods are with very high living density, and people doesn't have the area to relax. Transferring the building to a park will significantly improve the living quality for nearby people.

I have 3 kids. All of them are native born as Santa Clarian. As parents we do wish we could have more open space for our children who may enjoy more sunlight, more fresh air. Santa Clara is known as a tree city. I strongly support establishing a city park in our neighborhood , civic center area.

The neighborhood is already crowd. We really need a park nearby and I believe 1601 Civic Center Drive is a perfect spot for a city park.

Yes, we absolutely need a park. It will add more contour to the area and offer a space for recreational activities and safe place for kids/families to enjoy.

    I support a park proposal.
It will add a great value for the whole community and provide the recreational space with many kinds of activities for all residents. We really need such green space here.
The park will contribute to the community life way better than high-density residential development on 1601 Civic Center Drive for which there is at least not enough infrastructure for drastically increasing traffic and such amount of cars that would be parking in the streets.

I strongly support a neighborhood park at 1601 Civic Center. Our neighborhood already has overly dense housing without adequate amenities for the community.

Useful green space is always lacking in our increasingly high-density urban environment. After learning that the new Community Garden facility at Eddie Souza Park (at Monroe/San Tomas) has a very narrow requirement for access, limited to residents within 0.5 miles of the park, it's clear that a similar-style project here to serve our community would be a welcome addition to the area. Please give this proposal due consideration. QoL for existing Santa Clara residents' QoL is important!

I've been a resident of Santa Clara for over 10 years and am in favor of a safe, walk-able community park that our families can access and enjoy. 1601 Civic Center Drive is a prime area to have a park serving the future needs of green spaces and community gathering as nearby commercial and city hall are planned for high-density residential in Santa Clara’s General Plan. Based on the city’s current park standard we are already well under the Santa Clara park acreage target.

There are quite a lot of townhouses and condos without backyard in the area, and a community garden will improve life of current residents. Building high density housing without enough parking will make life of residents miserable and dangerous due to increased number of cars parking on the streets. I support this proposal.

The density of our neighborhood is already very high. We need a park instead of a high-density housing development. A park would greatly improve the community, especially for families with kids. Many of us choose to start a family here, and there are very few infrastructures for kids nearby. We need a park!

I highly support the park idea. This would improve our quality of life and be a better option than the proposed high density apartment complex.

I also support 2-3 story SFH development. They would be more expensive, but the city could offer more units to lower income families.
Reduced taxes, low to no interest mortgages to original owners for a fixed period, and when on sale these units would revert to normal
market expenses. The city and developers would realize their tax/profits basis over an extended period.

A park would be a much better option than the currently planned very high- density high-rise that does not have a park or adequate parking. If the City is not willing to build a park, perhaps consider lowering the current plan’s density so the impact is not as bad to existing neighbors? Perhaps build a senior housing instead so parking demand is less and also less density? I urge the Council to seriously consider the park option, or an adjustment to the current development plan.

In recent years, many lots in the neighborhood that used to accommodate small businesses were converted into residential areas, where examples include Catalina and the new development at 1790-1792 Warburton Avenue. However, this was not accompanied by addition of facilities for the residents. I support the proposal to establish a city park at 1601 Civic Center Drive because I think that a facility that offers recreational and educational activities to the community is much needed.
